Dreaming about colorful ghosts, he cares not about life outside of this summer job. To understand him is to understand existence for aren't we all just microcosms of life itself? Is Beyond the Tales the first game you have worked on?

The first real game, yeah.

What do you do besides working on Beyond the Tales?

I'm a software engineer in real life and a couch potato in my spare time.

Why did you decide to work on Beyond the Tales?

Drew asked me to and it sounded like something fun to do outside of work/school.

What is your favorite game of all time?

Diablo 3 or Minesweeper

What are you currently playing?

Slay The Spire, Risk Of Rain 2, Diablo 3

What is the first game you ever played?

How should I remember? Tetris?

If you could write a book about your life, what would it be titled and why?

I can write a book about my life but I choose not to because thinking of a title is too hard. Naming is hard.

What advice do you have for someone wanting to get into game design and/or development?

Start with computer science/software engineering.

What is one thing most people don't know about you?

I can bend the toe next to my big toe backwards and touch my foot with it.

Do you have a favorite movie/franchise?

I don't know... Scarface

Do you have a favorite book/series?

No. I don't read enough.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

Time control.

What three items would you take with you on a deserted island?

My cellphone (that's it... just make a call and get off the island).

What was your first job?

Teaching kids how to program and making sure they don't kill each other (camp counselor).

What could you give a 30-minute presentation on with no advanced preparation?

Probably anything. I'm a master of bullshit.

What job would you be terrible at?

I excel at everything I do.

What's a topic you wish you knew more about?

Lower level networking

Tell me more about you

I grew up in Northeastern Ohio. I have always loved technology, namely computers, but did not always have abundant access to it. This only furthered my fascination. My first taste of coding came in the form of AOL/AIM programs. In high school we got to start choosing our own class schedules and even though programming wasn't typically offered until 10th grade, I, along with a friend, was given special permission to take a C++ class in 9th grade. I had a lot of fun in this class but I didn't do particularly well in it. It turns out that building a foundational understanding on the fundamentals of object oriented programming takes time and effort. Things typically come easy to me but something about programming just didn't click the first time around. In 11th(?) grade I joined a bunch of my other friends in taking the followup class covering Java. Somehow the rehashing of everything I had learned in C++ finally clicked when I wrote it in Java. Java was and still is my preferred language today. Around this time I determined that programming, or at least something having to do with computers, was what I wanted to do with my life. I entered college as a Computer Engineer because both of those topics sounded interesting to me. It turns out that Computer Engineers are more focused on hardware rather than software so I transferred to Software Engineering instead. That's pretty much how I met Drew and now we're making Beyond the Tales you're welcome and goodbye.
